Kristin's roasted potatoes, and I got to carve the Turkey!
This year for Thanksgiving, Kristin and I decided we'd like to go to Italy. But we didn't want to miss out on a Thanksgiving meal, either. Italy wouldn't have turkey, dressing, and cranberry sauce, would it? Well, seeing a 3 pound turkey breast at the grocery store just the right size for two people got Kristin thinking- why not have Thanksgiving dinner early? So we did.
As you can see in the pictures, Kristin cooked up a storm, we got out the china, and everything was as delicious as it looked. We had Turkey, dressing balls, roasted potatoes, corn pudding, and cranberry sauce. I'm really proud of Kristin, and what a great cook she's turned out to be. She's keeping me well-fed and happy.
You may also note that the table is handsomely adorned with a new table runner that Kristin sewed together, and some attractive falling paper leaves that Kristin cut out and strung together were hung from the ceiling, too.
Tom the turkey stands watch over a fallen comrade.
After the meal, it was time for Christmas! It was my job to get all the Christmas decorations out from all the places we'd stashed them, and we both put up the decorations. It took us about 3 hours. It's fun to note that our Christmas tree is getting to be decorated with more "us" ornaments, and less "his and her" ornaments. We pick up an ornament from almost everywhere we go, making our tree a scrapbook of sorts. Our little 3 foot tree will probably be replaced when we get back to the states, but right now is serving us well, forcing us to edit our ornaments, and only put the ones that are small enough, light enough, and we really like on it. This year's tree is the best looking we've had so far. And that's despite the row of lights along the bottom that won't work. (like I said, it'll probably get replaced when we get back to the states) :)
The stockings behind the tree are a fun new tradition. Each day either Kristin or I will get to pull a small present out of the stockings - counting down the days until we fly home.
