After a stuffy, but interesting train ride to from Pisa to Rome we arrived at our posh hotel. We stayed at the oh so nice, Hotel Kolbe near the Rome Forum. Below you can see Zach checking email on bed #1, while Tyler relaxes in the massage chair.
Our room actually had two floors. Tyler and I stayed upstairs.
Here's a partial view of the loft, which was cozy and even had it's own flat screen.
This was my favorite part of Hotel Kolbe (or wait maybe it was the fantastic breakfast). The tub is bigger than it looks. It was great for soaking three pairs of really sore feet!

It was the picture of luxury, I tell you. Just what we needed after long days exploring in Rome.
Our first stop on a long day of touring was the Palatine Hill. Seeing the ruins was amazing, but we didn't take a tour or buy an audio guide, so we're sort of lost about what we took pictures of.
This was part of Augustus's villa, I think.
It was fantastic to be able to walk where the ancients walked and see the architectural styles the so many American buildings are based upon.
Luckily, when we made our way over to the Roman Forum and we had downloaded a free Rick Steves audio guide for our Ipods. This made the Forum come to life. We highly recommend doing some sort of tour (free or not) for these two places. The empty, broken pieces of buildings just don't make sense without explanation.

The arch of Titus. This arch commemorates the capture and fall of Jerusalem in 70AD. Jewish slaves had to build and carve this arch.
